Will Russian S-400s Shoot Down US Planes in Syria?

Will Russia react to the US aggression against Syria this time?

Will Russia use its S-400s to destroy the cruise missiles or fighter jets that are involved in the aggression against Syria?

Abdel Bari al-Atwan, editor of the daily Rai al-Youm , wrote an article about a possible confrontation between Russia and the United States in Syria.

“Following a telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump, his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Friday, March 2, the US administration stepped up its campaign of intoxication and verbal attacks against the Syrian government and threatened Damascus to open an investigation for its “attacks” against Eastern Ghouta, under the air and political protection of Russia.

It’s been a few days since White House officials started whispering about the increased possibility of an American attack on military targets in Syria, just like what happened in April 2017 in southern Homs, where the Shayrat military base was targeted by US cruise missiles.

This explains Washington’s request to the Security Council to open an investigation into those responsible for the chlorine attacks on Eastern Ghouta.

The US threats do not only target Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, but also his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, who has just boasted about Russia’s sophisticated weapons; weapons that are difficult to counter, such as intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of nuclear warheads or drones that move underwater.

In this connection, Russian initiatives, such as the establishment of a five-hour a day cease-fire in Eastern Ghouta and the creation of a humanitarian corridor to evacuate the civilian inhabitants of Eastern Ghouta, did not work well because of the terrorist groups’ refusal to let civilians out in order for them to be used as human shields.

Indeed, it is unlikely that Donald Trump will wait for the formation of an international commission of inquiry to examine the use of chemical weapons in Eastern Ghouta, because it takes a long time and Donald Trump has little patience. This reminds us of the attack on the Shayrat military base, which took place just after the chemical incident in Khan Sheikhoun.

Two weeks ago, Pentagon chief James Mattis spoke about the Syrian government’s use of chemical weapons in eastern Ghouta, but said the Trump administration did not have any authentic documents to launch its retaliation…

These statements were echoed by French President Emmanuel Macron who, for his part, said that France could not react for lack of valid evidence. But it is very likely that the documents Trump and Macron are talking about have already been fabricated and are only waiting for international coverage to be revealed. The important point is that the aerial and ballistic attacks of the West will precede the revelation of these proofs!

In short, the Syrian front is gradually turning into a confrontational scene between the United States and Russia, especially since Israel could also join this confrontation. This theory is reinforced by the recent statements of Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu who has just threatened to attack Iran’s military bases in Syria.

Syrian planes, supported by the Russian air force, are bombarding the positions of terrorists in Eastern Ghouta in order to drive them out of this area located in the suburbs of the capital. Due to these circumstances, the security and stability of the capital are seriously threatened by the rockets fired by terrorists who are an instrument used by the United States and its allies. That is a joint decision by Russia, Syria and Iran, a decision they will not come back to.

It is with this question that I conclude the article:

“Will Russia react to an American aggression against Syria this time?

Will it uses its S-400s to destroy the cruise missiles or fighter jets that are involved in the aggression against Syria? “

The answer will become clear during the coming weeks, or even days, which are full of surprises, because the tensions are in full swing and no one knows this better than Mr. Trump. ”
