US Fleet on the Way to the Middle East: Americans in Battle Order?

The USS Harry S. Truman will leave Norfolk Naval Station in Virginia on Wednesday, April 11 for a deployment to the Middle East and Europe.

The aircraft carrier will be accompanied by a missile cruiser the USS Normandy, and USS destroyers: Arleigh Burke, USS Bulkeley, USS Forrest Sherman and USS Farragut.

USS destroyers Jason Dunham and USS The Sullivans will join the group later, according to a statement from the US Navy.

The combat group, carrying 6,500 sailors, will sail alongside German frigate FGS Hessen during the first half of the deployment.

The German ship conducted a brief mission with USS Harry S. Truman in 2010, said the US Navy.

The mission of the combatant vessels will include “maritime security operations and cooperative efforts with allies and partners” and “will provide crisis response capability and enhance cooperation on security and naval presence in Europe and the Middle East “.

The USS Harry S. Truman will replace the USS combat group Theodore Roosevelt, which completed its four-month mission in the Middle East last month, and is now operating in the Western Pacific.
